App eJOY English 2 has now been enhanced with many features to make your learning more effective. When learning with the App eJOY English 2, you can practice by yourself through Listening - Understanding - Speaking - Writing - Role playing games, helping you understand videos, practice listening and speaking standard with native intonation.

Here are the steps to guide you to learn with videos on App eJOY English 2:

1. Watch your favorite videos

Target: help you get an overview of the content of the video and save new words to learn.
Steps to follow:

  • Watch video
  • Look up and save new words you want to learn

2. Active listening/ auto-pause

Target: Listening Quizzes will allow you to practice your active listening through word recognition and sentence completion.

Steps to follow:

  • Listen to each dialogue line. You can make the voice slower by pressing Slow (3) and listen to the subtitle repeatedly by pressing Loop(1)
  • Compare and contrast with the subtitles to identify your mistakes when the video shows subtitles.
  • Press the blue circle icon (6) again to listen one more time. This time, pay attention to where you heard wrong

Note: Don't forget to adjust the auto-subtitle display time according to your learning speed for the best effect (avoid the case where the subtitles appear too early to prevent your line guessing). You can set them at Time set (4). In addition, you can adjust the subtitle display, translate subtitles or transliterate, andadjust the color and size of subtitles in Sub (2) and Setting (5).

  • Auto show sub: Time period for subtitles to automatically appear after the end of the video
  • Auto jump to next sub: Time period to continue automatically moving to the next sentence

3. Listening Quiz

Target: Listening Quizzes will allow you to practice your active listening through word recognition and sentence completion.

Steps to follow:

  • Listen to each dialogue line. You can make the voice slower by pressing Slow and listen to the subtitle repeatedly by pressing Repeat.
  • Use the correct words/ phrases to complete the sentences

4. Shadow

Target: Based on the shadowing technique, we designed the Shadow game to help you practice your speaking skills by mimicking native voices.

Steps to follow:

  • Listen to each dialogue line, and press on the record icon (the micro icon) to start recording your voice. App eJOY English 2 will mark your speaking sentence with the original one.

+Green highlight: correct pronunciation

5. Write

Target: Dictation is one of the best methods to improve your listening fluency. By transferring what you hear into text, your brain will have to work hard and fast to process new information, which means that you’ll need to work on both your listening and writing skills simultaneously. Over time, you’ll be able to recognize the hard words or sounds that you used to miss before.

Steps to follow:

  • Listen to a dialogue line
  • Type a missing word in a blank. Epic will show you whether you listen to it right or wrong.

5. Roleplay

Target: The Roleplay (or dubbing) activity will help you speak English more fluently and naturally. You will dub speakers in video and your speaking speed has to match with video time.

Steps to follow:

  • Listen to a group of dialogue lines
  • Press on the record icon (the micro icon) to start recording your voice within time limits (You can record your speech as many times as you want). Epic will mark your pronunciation compared with the original dialogue.

+ icon (3): Preview to listen and review your own voiced video. Your recording is also saved in the Recording of the My library.

In addition, allows you to adjust whether or not to hide the words of the category: Noun, verb, preposition or hide the whole paragraph.
